Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and distribute all menu items for residents, employees, visitors and special functions and will assist with any additional tasks determined by their supervisor
- Assist in establishing and overseeing policies and standard operating procedures for the department
- Provide a quality dining experience that exceeds customer expectations
- Promote and provide a work environment of teamwork and respect amongst employees, integrity, world class customer service, financial responsibility, and continual pursuit of excellence
- Follow all outlined Company, State, Federal and other applicable health and safety regulations with regard to food service, equipment use and personal hygiene. Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Comprehend and comply with verbal instructions/written standard recipes, production orders/record keeping systems, and cooking techniques in the preparation of daily menus
- Fulfill all HACCP policy and procedures and monitor the flow of food
- Produce, prepare and cook hot and cold foods including soups, sauces, salads, specials, entrees, catering, and other food items determined by the supervisor
- Examine foods for quality and freshness and monitor food temperatures
- Portion meals using appropriate measuring tools, garnish food, and oversee the distribution of food leaving the kitchen
- Set up station prior to service with appropriate equipment and food determined by the supervisor and the distribution of food to the customers
- Receive, unpack, unwrap, rotate, and stow deliveries into appropriate refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms via supervisors instructions
- Clean and sanitize work station/area under supervisor’s instruction
- Demonstrate self-initiative while providing the necessary leadership in the operation of the unit
- Foster a team-oriented environment at the work location
- Operate and supervise facility in accordance with Culinary Services Group’s standards and particular client requests
- Fulfill all side work responsibilities as determined by the supervisor
- Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays
- This position may be called upon to perform other duties and tasks as determined by the immediate supervisor, client and client location
Qualifications/Requirements

- Other Qualifications/Requirements as required during onboarding process
- Lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling up to 50% of a work day, and extended standing and physical activity involved up to 100% of a work day
- Lifting and moving of food, food containers, equipment, and other non-food related items up to 50 pounds in weight
- May be exposed to infections/contagious diseases, cleaning agents/chemicals, and electrical/mechanical kitchen equipment
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required. Serve Safe Certification and any other jurisdiction certifications and formal courses in institution cooking and food services sanitation desired
- Experience in healthcare, contract or similar food service environment and documented formal training in food service sanitation is preferred

- Provide a variety of cleaning, service and production functions for patient and resident services, cafeteria, and special functions and/or other related services. Diet Aide responsibilities are primarily focused on meal distribution, service and kitchen upkeep
- Provide a quality dining experience that exceeds customer expectations
- Promote and provide a work environment of teamwork and respect amongst employees, integrity, world class customer services, financial responsibility, and continual pursuit of excellence
- Follow all outlined Company, State, Federal and other applicable health and safety regulations with regard to food service, equipment use, personal hygiene. Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Comprehend and comply with all verbal and written instructions, production orders and record keeping systems in the distribution of daily menu offerings
- Maintain a clean and organized dining room including chairs, tables, trash receptacles, work areas, condiments and other areas determined by the supervisor
- Maintain an organized and sanitized kitchen, including floors, trash, dishes, and storage of delivery items
- Ensure the kitchen, service areas, and surrounding areas are clean and free of debris, and arranged in a manner determined by the supervisor
- Remove trash, waste, and spills in the dining room, serving areas, and kitchen floors
- Set up station prior to service with appropriate equipment and food determined by the supervisor and the service of food to the customers
- Receive, unpack, unwrap, rotate and stow deliveries into appropriate refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms via supervisors instructions
- Clean and sanitize work station/area under supervisor’s instruction
- Assist with production, merchandising, set up, and service of food under supervisor’s direction
- Organize and replenish all service related goods such as condiments, china, glassware, and other items
- Service menu items, designated by the supervisor, to the customer while providing exceptional customer service in a courteous, helpful, and friendly manner
- Assemble menu items on tray line for regular and modified diets
- Deliver food carts to units ensuring that all residents receive the proper tray, and collect and return carts at designated time
- Assist customers with specific menu inquiries
- Serve and clear the customers using proper serving/clearing methods
- Fulfill all side work responsibilities as determined by the supervisor
